Thomas McDonell este solistul si chitaristul formatiei Moon. McDonell a crescut in Manhattan, New York, si a urmat internatul din Andover, Massachusetts. A absolvit la Universitatea din New York. Mama lui, Joan este scriitoare, și tatăl său, Terry McDonell, este editor al Sports Illustrated Group. Fratele său, Nick McDonell este scriitor.
