Michael "Midge" Kelly, un boxer talentat devine celebru, dupa ani si ani de saracie, uitand foarte usor prietenii si pe cei care l-au ajutat in surprinzatoarea sa ascensiune. Il putem numi pe "Midge" Kelly un precursor a lui Jake la Motta, protagonistul capodoperei "Raging Bull".
