- Owen Waterbury, un romancier de succes, o recrutează pe Stephanie "Steve" Gaylord, o scriitoare aspiranta, pentru postul de secretara. Ea este dezamagita cand afla ca va trebui sa lucreze in apartamentul sefului sau, unde are loc o parada constanta de vizitatori excentrici și unde trebuie sa suporte glumele de prost gust ale lui Klutzy Ronnie. Mai mult, ideea lui Waterbury despre muncă pare mai mult un joc, interesul său pentru cărți fiind mult inferior celui pentru blonde. Steve pleacă, iar pentru a o aduce înapoi, Owen va trebui sa renunte la statutul de playboy.
