- Când un comic celebru moare, asociatii lui, socati, se dau peste cap cu disperare pentru a gãsi rapid un succesor. Acest succesor este Stanley Belt (Jerry Lewis), un umil angajat la un hotel, care se trezeste brusc smuls din obscuritate si ferchezuit pentru a deveni o stea. Se prea poate ca Stanley sã nu aibã nici o legãturã cu industria divertismentului, dar aceasta nu prezintã un impediment pentru hotãrâtii lui mentori, care încearcã sã scoatã din el un superstar al muzicii!
