În 1763, tânăra și apriga englezoaică Abby Hale este condamnată la moarte pentru răzvrătire împotriva autorităților, dar în cele din urmă ajunge să fie trimisă ca sclavă în America. Doi bărbați licitează pentru ea: căpitanul Christopher Holden și negustorul de arme Martin Garth. Holden iese câștigător, însă rivalul său o răpește pe Abby, implicând-o în războiul triburilor indiene, care face ravagii în teritoriile vestice.
