O actrita de cinema este ucisa de sotul ei gelos intr-un thriller hitchcockian de exceptie,Tanar si nevinovat (1937).Cadavrul este gasit pe plaja de catre scriitorul Robert Tisdall (Derrick De Marney) , care alearga sa anunte politia, dar se trezeste incriminat de doi martori neasteptati. Arestat si tarat la tribunal, Robert profita de invalmaseala creata si evadeaza, atragandu-si un aliat nesperat: Erica (Nova Pilbeam), fiica unui ofiter de politie, dispusa sa-si riste viata pentru cauza lui.
