In this episode we visit the city of Vallauris where Pablo Picasso became fascinated by the town and the ceramics after visiting an exhibition and it’s where he lived for a decade. The city remains forever marked by the work of this protean artist. Picasso is known in Vallauris for the chapel of the castle and its impressive cycle of paintings entitled "War and Peace". It is also in the museum of ceramics that some of the most beautiful works of the "potter" Picasso are exhibited. The sculpture of “Man with a Sheep”, placed on the Market Square, testifies to the artist's attachment to the city and its inhabitants. In 1959, the castle chapel was inaugurated with his masterpiece "War and Peace" just across the museum Magnelli.

The man with the long greying beard who we find in this self-portrait is the painter Camille Pissarro (1830-1903). A keen follower of the Impressionist movement, the artist specialised in landscapes around Paris, often painted in winter, such as the “Chestnut Tress at Louveciennes” or the urban landscapes of Montmartre. Towards the end of his life, his painting technique changed and he turned towards Neo-Impressionism, for example in the “Seine River and Louvre Palace”. Enjoy your visit!

While Europe and the United States dominate the art scene after World War II, Mark Rothko and Hans Hartung forged a discreet, friendly and very fertile bond. This documentary introduces the discovery of this little known and fascinating complicity between both artists. On the one hand, Mark Rothko, "the most violent of American painters" in his own words; on the other, Hans Hartung, a brilliant experimenter and "boxer" in front of the canvas. From the moment they met in 1950 in Hans Hartung's studio, there was a collaboration between them that resulted in huge, metaphysical and cataclysmic paintings. Then, Rothko gave a "lesson" to his European colleague, Hartung visited and paid homage to his elder and then mourned his suicide from Antibes, where he had a huge villa-studio built and kept the secrets of his relationship. This Rothko-Hartung encounter is an unprecedented and yet essential subject to understand a part of 20th century art.

Jean Dubuffet is a theoretician of Raw Art and the most contested and known French artist of the post-war period. In 1969 he decided to build a place for his Cabinet Logologique and at his own expense. This assembly, called La Closerie Falbala, is a pure creation of the mind. This construction site will be considerable, it’s a real artistic and technical challenge. This monumental work is today one of the "youngest" historical monuments in France.

Between 1883 and 1926 Claude Monet lived in a house at Giverny where he created a flower garden and a water garden, which provided the inspiration for his series of paintings known as the “Water Lilies”. The “Water-Lily Pond” portrays this garden, with its water lilies and the Japanese bridge in the background. In the series of eight large canvases on the theme, housed in the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, Monet introduces variations in light according to the hour of the day. Enjoy your visit!

Luca Fiore is a street artist graduated from the decorative arts of Paris in animation section. This is what led him to mix animation and street art to create his own style with his own perception of what should be a street work.

A native of the southern French town of Grasse, Jean-Honoré Fragonard is one of the most important 18th century French painters. He studied at the French Academy in Rome but chose to be free in his work, preferring to carry out private commissions, some of which were licentious, such as “The Shirt Withdrawn” exposed at the Louvre. The “Fanciful Figure” exposed at the Louvre-Lens demonstrates an original and very modern style. In this episode, we go to the southern suburbs of Paris. It is in a quiet neighborhood that the artist Elias Crespin goes every morning to join his studio. The Venezuelan-born artist has been living there for nearly 5 years and has been making his rather unusual creations. His sculptures are composed of simple geometric figures, lines, triangles, squares or circles, which float in space suspended from almost invisible threads.

A key artist of the Italian Renaissance, Raffaello Santi (1483-1520) developed a classical art form, based on drawing, which made him the model for many painters in the following centuries. In this episode we visit the city of Vallauris where Pablo Picasso became fascinated by the town and the ceramics after visiting an exhibition and it’s where he lived for a decade. The city remains forever marked by the work of this protean artist. Picasso is known in Vallauris for the chapel of the castle and its impressive cycle of paintings entitled "War and Peace". It is also in the museum of ceramics that some of the most beautiful works of the "potter" Picasso are exhibited. The sculpture of “Man with a Sheep”, placed on the Market Square, testifies to the artist's attachment to the city and its inhabitants. In 1959, the castle chapel was inaugurated with his masterpiece "War and Peace" just across the museum Magnelli.

While Europe and the United States dominate the art scene after World War II, Mark Rothko and Hans Hartung forged a discreet, friendly and very fertile bond. This documentary introduces the discovery of this little known and fascinating complicity between both artists. On the one hand, Mark Rothko, "the most violent of American painters" in his own words; on the other, Hans Hartung, a brilliant experimenter and "boxer" in front of the canvas. From the moment they met in 1950 in Hans Hartung's studio, there was a collaboration between them that resulted in huge, metaphysical and cataclysmic paintings. Then, Rothko gave a "lesson" to his European colleague, Hartung visited and paid homage to his elder and then mourned his suicide from Antibes, where he had a huge villa-studio built and kept the secrets of his relationship. This Rothko-Hartung encounter is an unprecedented and yet essential subject to understand a part of 20th century art.
