- Hellman a făcut din „Two-Lane Blacktop” probabil cel mai lent film cu mașini de viteză din istorie, ceea ce i-a atras producției niște încasări minuscule. Personajele principale – Șoferul (James Taylor) și Mecanicul (Dennis Wilson) – sunt doi indivizi care trăiesc străbătând America de colo-colo într-un automobil Chevy 1955 super-tunat și obținând bani din curse de mașini.
