Cosmos, an Artist in Avignon is a poetic documentary that follows Jean-Michel Othoniel during the creation of his monumental exhibition in Avignon (2025–2026). Through his perspective, the film explores the intimate genesis of his works, from conception to realization, from spirit to matter. Structured around the four elements, this sensory journey takes us from Jean-Michel’s studio in Montreuil to the workshops of the many artisans collaborating on the project, as well as to the iconic sites of Avignon. The city becomes a stage where the artworks integrate and dialogue with the spaces, between contemporary installation and historical heritage. The journey culminates in a choreographic performance by Carolyn Carlson, created for Othoniel’s works and performed by Hugo Marchand and Caroline Osmont, presented for the first time in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes.

JonOne was born in the Harlem district of New York. At the age of 17, he began graffiti in the streets of the American city, the world capital of Street Art. In 1983, he arrived in Paris and stayed there. After the street, Jon paints in squats, and in 2008, he settles in the lilacs in his studio.

When Chinese painting and its ancestral codes travel the world, Wang Xijing, a master of shan shui landscape painting, becomes an ethnographer, portraying the peoples of Africa, conflicts in Syria, and modern migration routes. Today, Travelers takes you to Copenhagen, Denmark, whose name means "the merchant's port". First, we will go to Tivoli Gardens, the oldest amusement park in the world. Then we will go to the city center where we will visit the Church of Our Savior, known for its spiral bell tower. We will talk about design, which is almost a religion in Denmark, but also about Danish gastronomy, and many other things.

François Boucher (1703-1770) is the archetypal French Rococo painter. He paints mythological themes tinged with gallantry, for example in the beautiful “Diane resting after her Bath” at the Louvre Museum. His patron was Madame de Pompadour, whose portrait he painted many times. Influenced by the Enlightenment movement, he devoted himself to Chinese themes (“The Chinese Garden”), to pastoral landscape (“Charms of Country Life”) and to a certain sensual Orientalism (“Brown Odalisque”). His interest in photography started at the age of 8 when he saw a live broadcast of the first images of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. He then became interested in different subjects such as geopolitics, history, and finally became a photojournalist.

Ioye is a street artist who would like to live from his passion. But for the moment, he is a prop maker in the theater. He has a formation of cabinetmaker and was intermittent during ten years

Discover James Goldstein's house in the heights of Hollywood. It is a beautiful example of the architecture of the mythical and prolific John Lautner. When Goldstein bought this property, the house was not finished and Lautner died in the meantime. Goldstein set about finishing it with the help of the famous architect's former associates. To top it off, he commissioned James Turrell to create an original work on the hillside.

Kimiko Yoshida has settled in a working-class neighborhood in the northeast of Paris. Her house is at the same time an exhibition gallery, a reception room and a studio. Initially a photographer, she has become a visual artist. The self-portrait is a motif that punctuates the artist's work. But paradoxically, she flees vanity to aim at disappearance.

There is great simplicity and troubling realism in the figures of Georges de La Tour (1593-1652). Influenced by Caravaggio’s works, he painted with light tones as in his famous “Cardsharp with the Ace of Clubs”. His works also include several nocturnal scenes with striking chiaroscuro, simply lit up by the flame of a candle as in “Newborn” and “Adoration of the Shepherds”, which are at present conserved at the Louvre Museum. Lionel Estève has been living in the Molenbeek district of Brussels for nearly 20 years. It is here that he has set up his studio, an ideal space to practice his art, as well as to highlight the cheerfulness of the colors he uses and the softness of nature that he transmits in his work.

Each episode focuses on a specific subject: movement, oil painting, shadows, hair... For the first 10 minutes, each artist gives a theoretical lesson illustrated by sketches. In 1982, while shooting a photographic reportage in Naples, Patrick Zachman becomes friend with Andrea Mormile, a policeman from the special anti-camorra unit freshly created, who will be assassinated a little after Zachmann’s return to Paris. Thirty-five years later, Mormile’s grandson, a photographer himself, gets onto the tracks of Zachmann’s work and onto the images documenting the grandfather he never met.
