(dead man) Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe: 6 Sonatas for solo violin In ‘Accident’, death comes unexpectedly and abruptly to a family that has recently been challenged by the pater familia's marriage to a younger woman. When he dies suddenly, perhaps in a car accident, it becomes extremely important for her to push forward a delayed plan for a family portrait. How to take a family photo where one of the members is no longer alive, and the rest of the family, apart from the young wife, struggle to hide their opposition to the whole project? Arte Flamenco, 35 years of Festival in Mont-de-Marsan In the heart of the Landes, every July, the streets and stages of Mont-de-Marsan welcome Arte Flamenco. Created in 1989 by the Department of Landes on the initiative of Henri Emmanuelli, the largest flamenco festival outside the Spanish borders celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2024. The opportunity for its director Lionel Niedzwiecki to look back on the history of this event that has remained faithful to the tradition of flamenco puro while exploring the paths of modernity, the links between this region of the South-West of France and Spain, the popular roots of flamenco and the attachment to the freedom of artistic creation illustrated by the shows presented during this edition by the choreographers Manuel Liñán (‘Muerta de amor’) and Rafaela Carrasco (‘Creaviva’) as well as the pianist Dorantes (‘Orobroy’). Three major artists of today’s flamenco scene who evoke their links with Mont-de-Marsan and its audience of true aficionados and their vision on the evolution of an art that is constantly evolving, between attachment to roots and desire for modernity. This unusual ballet was inspired by terrible events in the life of choreographer Young, who lost his daughter, niece, and nephew in a terrible fire during a family vacation.
