Food Unknown takes a detailed look at well known and less popular destinations to gain an intimate level of understanding why their cuisine hasn't reigned supreme? The nation of 7,000 islands has no problems with beach, sun, or sea; but they suffer tremendously with cuisine image. Jonathan lands in Manila to discover the top chefs are well aware of the issue and, following their advice, he launches off on an expedition to find part of the solution. Driving from headhunting tribal villages, to step-back-in-time colonial towns, to restaurants in the shadow of the American military behemoth an intriguing story slowly pieces together. In the dense jungle one treasure stays buried while another comes literally out of the woodwork. But danger always lurks.. zombie moray eels, landslide prone passes, and forbidden fields behind the rice paddies.

The world’s fastest land mammal is racing toward extinction, with the latest Cheetah census suggesting that the big cats, which are already few in number, may decline by an additional 53 percent over the next 15 years. Cheetah has been driven out of 91 percent of its historic range—the big cats once roamed nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but their population is now confined predominantly to six African countries: Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, and Mozambique. The species is already almost extinct in Asia, with fewer than 50 individuals remaining in one isolated pocket of Iran. Cheetahs are getting killed directly, and then also their prey species are getting killed in these savannah areas, so the Cheetahs having nothing to subsist on.

Africa’s largest hydroelectric dam will flood 280 km of Ethiopia’s Blue Nile River to provide 80% of Ethiopia’s electricity. Eco-explorers Ben Peters and Charlie Head paddle-board this ancient river one last time – before it is lost forever – navigating uncharted territories and dangerous wildlife as they meet some of the 20,000 people who’ll be affected and learn how they feel about this change.

February 2017 saw me embark upon a travel expedition through Scotland, Poland, France, Mexico, Belize and, (alas! ), back. Not only was it the first time I ventured out to Central America, but also the first time I seriously pushed my bravery boundaries to do a whole lot of things I'd never tried before. I defeated my life-long fear of scubadiving and skydiving, (the Carribbean vistas do help! - No danger I'd do that again in Aberdeen), I went zip-lining over a Mexican jungle, I tried habanero-packed streetfood, (failed at that miserably), and organic tequila, (managed that better;), I climbed a Maya pyramid in the middle of a Belizean rainforest and fed hibiscus flowers to a very extravagant donkey. Most importantly, however, I got to know some incredible people - from shamans, wanderers and artists to refugees, businesswomen and expat cowboys. And thanks to aaaall of that, I also got to know a little bit more about myself for visiting the most remote corners of our planet reminds you how different and yet how similar we all are. I'm looking forward to sharing my incredible experience in 5 exciting episodes of our travel series, which really turned out to be a Dream Journey:) I simply cannot wait for more!

The series "How Do They Make It" is a journey into the world of complex mechanisms surrounding contemporary man. It's a story about places where exceptional things are being created to make our travel, communication, work, and life easier. In every program, we visit a new place. Our series is about creating unique products but also about the commitment, passion, and work of the people who create them. Each set consists of five episodes about the most interesting production micro-worlds and their operations. The themes of the sets are very diverse – ranging from the big car factory to the traditional glassworks. In the first episode of this set, we visit one of the biggest Polish yacht yards - Northmann shipyard in Węgorzewo. This shipyard produces the popular sailing yachts Maxus and motorized yachts Nexus. In the program, we talk about designing and building yachts. We then show the subsequent stages of their production process, we meet the people who make them and who sail in them. The episode will also have a special guest, namely Szymon Kuczynski – who has sailed round the globe in the smallest, six-meter Maxus 22 yacht, produced at this shipyard.

The land of mountains and pristine lakes! In this episode, Jonathan gets on a motorcycle to explore the countryside. He embarks on a Don-Quixote type journey, alluding to the origin story of author Miguel Cervantes and his ‘supposed’ stint in Montenegro, in a jail cell. Jonathan rides down the fantastically beautiful Kotor bay, learning about medieval armor and the city’s history. While on his road trip, Jonathan also uncovers Tito’s secret bunker, fully exploring the lavish estate on his own whims - as well as abandoned submarine silos, hidden bunkers from the Soviet era, and much more. No trip to Montenegro is complete without a visit to the countryside, this is where Jonathan comes across authentic cuisine, and a rescue mission with volunteers that patrol the harsh but beautiful mountains of Montenegro.

In 2017 the government decided to tear down communist apartment blocks (infamous for shoddy construction): around 4,000 buildings from the 1950s and 1960s are being replaced with modern high-rises. RhinThe African Penguin has been shifted from Vulnerable to Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, Birdlife International announced. African Penguins have been sliding towards extinction since industrial fishing started around the Cape. The last four years have seen a population crash. As the climate changes and fisheries transform the oceans, the world's African Penguins are in trouble. Young Penguins aren't able to take all the changes into account and are finding themselves 'trapped' in parts of the sea that can no longer support them even as better options are available. o poaching is currently at a crisis point. By the end of 2015, the number of African Rhinos killed by poachers had increased for the sixth year in a row with at least 1,338 Rhinos killed by poachers across Africa in 2015. These statistics are compiled by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission’s African Rhino Specialist Group (AfRSG).
