Located at the Porte de Gentilly in Paris, squeezed between the ring road and the Boulevard des Maréchaux, the Charléty Stadium is bordered by the pavilions of the Cité universitaire, a cemetery and red brick HLM buildings. On this difficult eight-hectare site, marked by the fifty years of history of the old Sébastien-Charléty stadium, Henri Gaudin and his son Bruno have managed to implant the massive volume of a 20,000-seat covered stadium, as well as the sports facilities and offices commissioned by the City of Paris. In designing this large stadium with its gigantic ring shape, its elliptical stands and its aerial roof, the architects have been able to translate the energy that runs through the material and which is expressed in the sporting feat...

From 1860 to 1968, the Guise Familistère, a community built for 1800 inhabitants by the great Fourierist industrialist Jean-Baptiste-André Godin (1817-1889), served as the stage for a social experiment that remained unique in its audacity, scale, and duration. The invention of a "unitary" architecture and urban planning is one of the original and pioneering aspects of the Familistère adventure. This "Social Palace" constituted a true utopia in action, which today once again arouses the interest of historians, sociologists, economists, urban planners, and architects.
